Yuzz Trip November 2011

Fundacion Banesto’s Yuzz group recently held their second trip to Silicon Valley this year in collaboration with StepOne. On this trip nine young entrepreneurs, winners of the second Yuzz edition 2011 visited and engaged with key entrepreneurial figures and organizations in the area. On their first day, the Yuzz group paid a visit to the Spain Tech Center (STC) a business incubator that provides support to Spanish companies in establishing in the United States. Here they heard first hand talks about emerging tendencies in Silicon Valley and movements in venture capital. They also had the chance to see the cutting edge Living Green Roof at the California Academy of Sciences and learn about the leading sustainable designs integrated throughout. They finished the day with a trip across the Golden Gate bridge over into Sausalito.

The next day the Yuzz group held workshops at Catapult Design, where they simulated the prototyping process in developing new mobile phone designs. Afterwards they headed off to Mountain View to have a look at Google’s headquarters. The day finished with an inside look at IDEO and their renown approach to innovation and design. Later in the week, the group went to Palo Alto and visited Stanford University’s campus, where they got personal pitch feedback on each of their businesses. They ended the day with a session on developing a business model canvas at Innovalley.

The Yuzz group ended their Silicon Valley experience executing the Entrepreneurship Game, an intense start-up simulation played out in San Francisco where they developed three new business concepts on the spot. They also explored downtown SOMA through a high-tech team-building activity on the Go-Game. The trip ended with the Spain Tech Center’s Launch party, where the Yuzz group had the opportunity to network and share their businesses with many prominent entrepreneurs in the Bay area.

The Yuzz group left the trip with optimistic insights and feedback on how to improve and move forward with each of their projects.   The Yuzz group participants included: David Fontanet and Ferran Olivella of “Getgetone”,Roberto Carlos Sáez of “SPEEN2 Soluciones Tecnológicas”,Begoña Martínez Pagán of “Júramelo.es” and Javier Sepulcre Gómez and Ana Puertas Montesinos of “Free Disabled Park.”
