Pont Tecnològic of March 2011
Pont Tecnòlogic is an initiative of the Cambra de Commerç de Barcelona (Barcelona Chamber of Commerce), and StepOne had the privledge of working with the Cambra to bring over 14 promising startups from Barcelona to the San Francisco Bay Area this past March.
StepOne worked with the Cambra on specific agendas for each of the companies that attended the trip, identifying priorities in the San Francisco Bay Area and looking into potential partnerships and options for international expansion. Many companies came back to Barcelona with accelerated plans to internationalize and feedback to help further product iterations. The partnerships and contacts made during this week will help this process move even more quickly. It would be fair to say that this trip was a success, judging from the amount of interest generated in putting expansion plans into the short term road map.
StepOne also arranged for the group to visit Google and Facebook, as a way to compliment the experience of the week with a unique look into two of the leading players in the tech world today. The trip also coincided with the, which many participants attended as well.
The companies of the Pont Tecnòlogic March 2011 exemplify some of the brightest startups that Spain is currently producing, adding to Barcelona’s growing reputation as a hot spot for technology. Particpating companies included BitCarrier, Mubiquo, Porpra Augmented, Inbenta, IRIS, Socceralia, Layers, Multiplica, Nice People at Work, Tourism & Convention Bureau, Beabloo, Spenta, Keonn and Digital Samba.
