EOI Trip of November 2010
StepOne had the priveledge of working with MBA students from the EOI (Escuela de Organizacion Industrial) on an immersion program in entrepreneurship culminating in a week long trip to Silicon Valley. The EOI, roughly translated to the School of Industrial Organization, is an advanced business program located in Madrid.
During the last few weeks of October 2010, members of the StepOne team gave talks to the masters students on idea creation, business communication and pitch development and on the implications of doing business abroad. A highlight of these workshops included a speed dating style pitch session, where students pracitced and consolidated their elevator pitch (they would have to deliver them perfectly later at an event in Silicon Valley).
StepOne organized a group agenda for the week in Silicon Valley for the first week of November. Tours of Oracle, Google and Stanford University were arranged, visits to Plug N Play, SF NewTech, and other sites illustrated the kind of ecosystem that exists for the tech sector and startups in Silicon Valley. Many participants of the EOI came away with first impressions of Silicon Valley that will come back to Madrid with them. For StepOne, it was a pleasure to work with them during this point in their professional formation. We look forward to hearing from participants from EOI as the rest of the MBA program of 2010 – 2011 unfolds.
