EOI Trip of March 2011

The latest class from the Graduate MBA program of EOI (Escuela de Organizacion Industrial) came to San Francisco this past March, for a week long trip that brought them face to face with significant forces in the Silicon Valley ecosystem. StepOne and Barrabes helped design a program that would compliment the highly technical background of the student profile.
The trip focused on many of the innovation practices seen in the area, especially those that can be applied to more traditional industries. The group also had a chance to meet with local startups and participate in their own workshop, both activies promoted idea generation, feedback, and addressed the business presentation standards of Silicon Valley.
A variety of presenters who addressed the group shared their business values, experiences, and recommendations. A highlight of the trip were a number of Spanish entrepreneurs, who now call the SF Bay Area home, that addressed many of the common concerns, fears, and questions faced by the process of internationalization and growth.
Arranged visits for the group included Google, Oracle, Stanford, Plug and Play Tech Center, and a trip to a local chocolate startup, TCHO, was a great way to see many of these local values applied. Thanks very much as well to guests from Fotowatio Renewable Ventures, IAP Solutions, Kereitsu Forum and Whisbi for their time and interest in sharing their recommendations with the group.
A week full of rain did its best to complicate things, but it was a pleasure to participate in this trip!
