Spotlighting some of our 2016 JCF Interns:

Yolanda is a Software Engineer from Burgos, north of Spain. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science Engineering, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education.

Before moving to San Francisco Yolanda worked as IT Manager at the European Business and Innovation Center of Burgos for almost 3 years. There she had the chance to support Spanish IT entrepreneurs and organize national tech events and worldwide hackathons. She currently works as Software Engineer at Turo, a peer-to-peer car rental marketplace based in San Francisco.

Carlos comes from Valencia, where he got his Computer Science Engineering degree at the Polytechnic University.
During his work experience he has worked in different research groups and companies in Valencia and Madrid where he has acquired different programming skills and knowledge about several areas like genetics or banking.
Computer and surf lover, his dream has always been to live in California, where he is currently living. Carlos is a Software Engineer working at Ebates in San Diego, a pioneer company of online cash back shopping.

Jorge is originally from Madrid, where he graduated in Industrial Engineering and specialized in Electronics at the Polytechnic University.

Following his passion about Robotics and Software Development, Jorge got into the Computer Science world developing small applications at Vesta; then he was able to work in Software professionally at BQ. Now he lives in New York City and works at Splashthat, a company that helps to create beautiful websites for your events.

Jóvenes con Futuro Community

The Jóvenes con Futuro community is growing fast. There have been 5 editions of the program already and 35 outstanding developers have participated in this experience.

In practice, the majority of the interns continues working in the U.S. at their host companies or at other startups and big companies like Google, Yahoo, Groupon, Rock Star Games, Inditex…

Requirements you should meet:
Student in their final year or recently graduated in Computer Science or related area.
Excellent programming discipline: object oriented principles, design patterns, unit testing…

Highly proficient in any of the following: Java, JS, PHP, C/C++, Python other platforms/frameworks.


Fluent in written and spoken English.


Under 30 years old and Spanish nationality.

Preferred qualifications:

Positive work attitude, customer-centric mentality, self-motivator, quick learner, and a team player.


Experience with web and/or mobile platform development.


Entrepreneurial activity or “side projects” outside of the classroom.


Interest in emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.


Tangible interest in the Silicon Valley ecosystem.

What is Jóvenes con Futuro?

Jóvenes con Futuro gives recently graduate students the chance to develop their startups skills by leading the experience of working in a startup for three to six months in Spain or in the US.

It is sponsored by Fundación Rafael del Pino and Fundación Banco Sabadell and is managed by StepOne.

The program covers:

Preparation and Training

During the selection process we will advise you to get ready for the interviews with host companies.

Before starting the internship period, you will participate in sessions to learn about global trends and challenges that startups face everyday. Those sessions will be inspirational, to get you ready for the next amazing adventure you are going to live.

Logistics and softlanding

The program manages:

  • Legal working contracts
  • J1 visa processing
  • Health insurance

To help you on the first weeks of the program, we offer you financial support to cover initial expenses, such as flight tickets, visa fees or first rental costs.
