Reporting the Spanish Movement in Silicon Valley
The Global Business Trip of May 2010 not only brought a number of promising Spanish businesses to the Silicon Valley area, it also attracted the attention of Informe Semanal, a reference in Spanish news. Their report (see video below), which aired this last Saturday in prime time, covers the new Spanish “conquerors of Silicon Valley“.
Some participants of the May GBT that appear in the report include Mario Pena and Juan Palacio from Safe Creative, Mariano Klein from MyEgoo, Cesar Nuñez from Addoor, Ángel Gandoy from SuDespacho and Fermin Álvarez and Miguel Pereira from Social Noise.
Other friends of StepOne already established in Silicon Valley featured prominently, including Xavier Verdaguer and the Innovalley team, Manuel Maqueda and Pedro Valdeolmillos from Bloosee, and Santiago Araño from Softonic.
We at StepOne were happy to have had some hand in the production, if you happened to get stuck behind us driving a van crossing the Golden Gate Bridge at 3 mph a couple of months ago, please accept our apologies, we were probably trying to film Iñaki and Koldo from Mad Pixel…
The report offers a perspective on what Spanish entrepreneurship has already brought and what it promises to bring to Silicon Valley. We have been getting feedback from friends both in both Spain and the United States, many touching upon the same theme of making the jump to the technology capital of the world. This report highlights many of the accomplishments, addresses some of the challenges, and underscores what it means to be an entrepreneur.
A comment from Jesus Ripa with reference to this video put it well:
