San Francisco developing Mission Bay area to advance health-related startups
The city of San Francisco is continuing its efforts to develop the area around UCSF’s Mission Bay campus with an eye towards supporting health-related companies. FibroGen, a biotech firm, and QB3 (California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences), a cooperative effort between the University of California and private industry, are taking part in this effort by helping to develop an incubator for medical companies. The incubator has already signed up five companies, and hopes to attract more.
Although there has been recent news that drug giant Pfizer has canceled plans to open a research center in Mission Bay, Mayor Gavin Newsom is optimistic that the area can attract innovative companies. If you are a Spanish health-related company and are ready to consider moving to the US, San Francisco could be your next step!
