Looking for interns?
StepOne Ventures is running an internship program for young talented programmers from Spain and is looking for startups in the SF Bay Area who would like to host an intern that can contribute to their development team. This program, called Jóvenes con Futuro (Youth with Talent), is an annual program now in its second year that is aiming to find and foster Spanish entrepreneurial talent and to expose them to the startup environment.
We are looking for early stage host companies involved with web / mobile / etc development that are located in the SF Bay Area. This program will take care of the selection, logistics, visa and legal process and host companies are not required to pay interns. Participating interns in this program will fund their participation themselves via loans, so a minimal monthly stipend is recommended. The internship period (subject to discussion) is for a minimum of 6 months.
Intern Profile:
- Recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
- Fluent in spoken / written English
- Experience with web programming and active interest in tech sector and entrepreneurship
- Disposed to longer term employment in SF Bay Area
- Please see participants from last year for examples
Timeline:
- January 2012 – complete discussions with potential host companies
- Spring 2012 – selection process to filter potential interns, host companies will participate in final filter and a pre-selection
- Summer 2012 – legal and visa process to be administered by intern in Spain
- September 2012 – internships begin with host companies (starting date can be specified)
StepOne will also arrange for networking activities for participants involved during the internship period in this program. Interns will be asked to blog and share their experiences for StepOne, these activities will be arranged outside of working hours.

This program is directed by Bernardo Hernandez, a Spanish entrepreneur and co-founder of StepOne. The goal of the program is to match promising Spanish programmers with emerging trends, new ideas, innovation processes, and talented directors. In the long run, this program will contribute to successful Spanish entrepreneurship.
