Welcome to this new edition of Jóvenes con Futuro!
These are quite exciting times for the JcF community. We are happy to announce and introduce you to our eleven amazingly talented young engineers that are already experiencing first hand how life looks like in the United States while working as Software Developers in cool startups of Silicon Valley and New York.
In this new batch, our jóvenes are located in California (mostly in the San Francisco Bay Area but also in San Diego, we are expanding!) and New York City. Some cool companies have joined us as well: Thinkful and Splash in New York, Ebates in San Francisco and San Diego, and Expensify in San Francisco.
You will meet each of the jóvenes in detail through the incoming weeks, but here’s a brief introduction about all of them:
A few months ago we took advantage that the program’s Founder and Ambassador – Bernardo Hernández – was in town, so we met with him for a nice brunch in San Francisco. Here’s a picture of some of the news and some of the old jóvenes with Bernardo, part of the StepOne team and Rosa Jiménez from El País.
From left to right: Antonio B. (2016) , Rocío P. (2016), Esaú S. (2016), Andrés M. (2016), Diego G.(2013), Miguel C.(2012), Bernardo H., Rosa J. (El País), Yolanda A. (2016), Marina D. (StepOne), Belén C.(2014), Jesús T. (2012), Abel M. (2014), Alfonso G. (2015), Carlos M. (2016), and Yurena G. (StepOne)
As you may have noticed, there are two new girls in the community! Yolanda and Rocio are joining Belén (first ever girl in Jóvenes con Futuro) and we expect to increase the ratio of females in the following editions of the program. Out of 46 jóvenes, only three are women. We encourage more girls in tech to join our community, you are always welcome.
Individual interviews are coming up soon, stay tuned!
